About me

Miguel Angel Garrido was born in 1982 in Mexico City, Mexico. From the age of 19 he lived and worked in San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, where he studied the Degree in Visual Arts at the Allende Institute. There he specialized in painting under the guidance of maestro José Ignacio Maldonado. He has been a fellow of the mexican national program/award Sistema Nacional de Creadores de Arte 2019-2021. "We are faced with a painter who confuses the canvas with the camera, or the photographic camera with the painting, or the art with a journal, those that were formerly written by hand in a notebook, which he in his way shows us page per page, frame by frame, and in doing so opens up, not without some impudence, his life. However, this confusion is fully intentional, and in the ambiguities that underlie a complex semantic fabric, supported by an intense, expressive painting , with solid compositions based on a remarkable handling of the color".
